Hello and welcome to our blog!
I guess everyone reading this pretty much already knows the story – Karl and I have quit our jobs and are leaving London to spend a year travelling the world. It's something that we've both wanted to do for years, so in late 2009 we finally plucked up the courage, got organised and booked a ticket Round The World (or RTW as they say in the business).
So, where are we going?
Tomorrow morning, on Saturday 20th February, we fly to Mumbai and the adventure begins. We'll travel around India for six weeks and our main stops include Goa, Kerala, Bangalore, Delhi, Agra and Calcutta.
On 3rd April, we fly from Calcutta to Kuala Lumpur. Over the course of 15 weeks (!), we're hoping to visit Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Indonesia – there's no actual route planned, we're just going to freestyle ;)
Sometime at the end of July, we'll fly from Bali to Darwin, and we'll spend about 12 weeks journeying down the east coast of Australia, before moving on to New Zealand for another couple of weeks.
From there, it's on to South America! Our last 15 or so weeks will be spent in Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil and Peru, where we fly home from in February 2011.
So – that's the plan, wish us luck and keep checking the blog for updates and photos of our trip :)

Have an awesome time, take lots of pics and don't eat TOOOO much - if that is possible for you two!! LOL
Good luck guys! I'm gonna be following your travels avidly and already looking forward to the next post :-) Missing you both already but so excited for you and so proud of you both too for having the courage to follow your dream! I hope this trip will be everything you're expecting and more!

Dudes, eat whatever, whenever. If you get food poisoning, consider it detox.
Any help with SE Asia give us a shout. This will mean nothing for now but a few things from Cecilia's mini world travel:
Laos - Tubing, I didn't go but its gotta be done!
Cambodia, Siem Riep - If you want a tuk tuk driver waiting for you when you arrive that doesn't rip you off, let me know and I'll call my trusty friend Bunuk to pick you up and take you to a nice hotel.
Hanoi - Stay at the Hanoi Backpackers and don't take taxis, they will rip you off. The bus is quicker than the trains, book a five stop ticket for $40.
Hoi An - Suit Up! And try Cau Lau noodles.
Nga Trang - You will experience 'buckets' and the 'Why Not' bar will be your worse hang over and head injuries have occured.
Saigon (or Ho Chi Minh as you foreigner's call it) - Let me know when you get there, and a meal at my parent's new restaurant is on me (them)!
Price haggle everything in Vietnam. They give you a price offer, return one for 1/3 then meet them mid way. Cambodia... generally everything is $1!
If you blog too much, it means you're not spending enough time travelling. Do blog enough tho please! Take loads of photos!

Oh My God Karl Walsh how could you be so bloody daft as to leave your money belt behind!!!! It's called a money BELT for a reason! Belt!... get it??? Goes around waist and stays safe with you at all times!!! :-)
